What is Video Marketing, really?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much does a video cost? If you incorperate engaging video into your marketing campaign, you can change the future of your entire business. Video marketing can be used for everything from building customer trust, to promoting your brand, services or products - or event training your staff. Additionally, video marketing can serve as a medium to present demonstration videos, promote customer testimonials, live-stream events and deliver entertaining content that reminds your viewer of your brand.

Is it difficult to explain your business to others? Perhaps a video can bring understanding to your viewer.

On the surface video marketing is pretty simple: Your brand creates videos that, in some way or another, promote your company. These video can contain call-to-actions which can convert a viewer into a customer by giving them an ability and an incentive to buy your product or service. Video for your business can also raise awareness of your products or services, or engage your customers in meaningful ways. Similar to other marketing efforts, video marketing is data driven, you can track how traffic funnels from your video to your point of sale.

To develop a video marketing strategy, we suggest the following:

  1. Allocate resources: You are going to need to find decent equipment which may include cameras, lenses and a fast computer which can handle editing video content. There are a few low budget options such as using the camera on your phone. Even though we provide video services, we still encourage our clients to use their cell phones to create video content. We can suggest some accessories which will make it easier to produce your videos. These items may include, device clamps, tripods, and lighting equipment.
  2. Tell your story: torytelling Introduce yourself and your company to the camera. Say hello to everyone because the world is watching. And if they are not watching you, they are definietly watching someone else. Make a list of what stories do you want to tell. Script them out, let the camera roll and review the footage. It's a learning process after all.
  3. Engage. Make your story interesting! Bring out your personality, be honest and everything else will fall into place.
  4. Keep it short. The general rule of thumb for business videos is to keep it short and sweet. Unless you are explaining smoething really important. Cut everthing extraneous, be ruthless with your editing. Attention spans are really short these days, so you have to make the best out of every second.
  5. Publish. Publish your videos everywhere you can. Put them on your website and make sure to upload them to your Google Account and Youtube. Of course, publish them on all of your social media channels and promote on a regular basis.
  6. Analyze. Links are easy to track these days. Make sure you have Google Analytics installed on your webiste. Determine which videos drive the most traffic and why, make more of them!
